Vaxcom Acquired by Xator

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Today, Vaxcom Services, Inc. was acquired by Xator, a Florida-based integrated security, intelligence and information technology company providing services in more than 90 locations around the world. Vaxcom, a provider of secure communications, network engineering, continuity of operations and threat management solutions to the intelligence and homeland security markets, expands Xator’s current offering to its National Security clients in the C4ISR arena. Vaxcom is based out of Fairfax, Virginia.

Leadership Team

Xator, established by former and serving senior members of the U.S. defense industrial communities, has acquired Vaxcom Services Inc. to broaden its capability portfolio and deepen its footprint in the intelligence community. The acquisition is part of Xator’s long-range strategy to be a trusted provider of mission assurance in the National Security community. The executive team at Xator consists of David Scott, Jerry Pfeiffer, Matt Galaski, and, Mark Skinner. Joining the executive team from Vaxcom is William Schmale, Ken Barton and Suzan Alves.

Executive Team Bios:

David Scott is the Chief Executive Officer of Xator and co-founder. David began his career as a civil servant for the U.S. Air Force. He has served in executive leadership roles to include operations, corporate and business development, for several rapidly growing service based companies including InDyne, Serco, Veridian and Jacobs Engineering (formerly Sverdrup). As Senior Vice President at InDyne, he led the growth of the company from $80M to almost $300M in annual revenues over a three-year period including the capture of a ten-year $750M contract providing technical services to the United States Air force. He has developed business relationships with a broad range of Domestic and Foreign Government agencies, including the Department of Defense, Department of State and the intelligence community. David has led the formation of new companies and/or lines of business to include the formation of Sverdrup Technology Australia that was the leading provider of engineering and analytical services to the Royal Australian Defence Forces.

Jerry Pfeiffer is the Chief Operating Officer of Xator and has supported the Federal Government for over 29 years in both contractor and active duty military roles. Jerry began his career as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. Prior to co-founding Xator, he served as Vice President of Business Development for Serco Group North America; Director of Business Development for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems; and held a variety of technical, management and business development assignments for Veridian Corporation. He has also consulted for a variety of large government services contractors. Jerry has a strong business development background and proven track record of winning large services contracts with the Department of Defense, Department of State, NASA and other government agencies. Over the last 10 years, Jerry has led or played a significant role in over $2B in contract wins.

Matt Galaski is the Chief Financial Officer of Xator and has supported the Federal Government for over 35 years in both contractor and DOD civilian roles. Matt began his career as an auditor with the Defense Contract Audit Agency. Prior to joining Xator, he served as Chief Financial Officer for KIRA, Inc.; President of Manassas Business Services; Chief Financial Officer for Apptis, Inc.; and Vice President and Assistant Chief Financial Officer for ManTech International Corporation. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from The University of Baltimore. He has led or played a significant role in over 10 acquisitions’ that provided over $600M in annual revenues.Mark Skinner is the Chief Strategy Officer of Xator and his career has been in companies and business areas providing contract services and solutions to the United States Government. He has served as the CEO of National Security Equity Partners, prior to that the President of Global Integrated Security (USA) ("Global USA") and previously business development executive of the National Security Division of USIS, director of government alliances for Adobe Systems; and a business development executive for EAI Corp, General Dynamics, and Veridian. As President, he grew Global USA’s backlog to $924M and increased revenues from $16M to over $160M in three years providing protective security, intelligence, and other contract services to clients including the United States Department of State, the Department of Defense, and United States Agency for International Development.

William Schmale, President of Vaxcom, first joined the team in early 2013 as the Vice President for Operations & Business Development, later being promoted by the Board to his current position. Prior to joining VSI, Mr. Schmale was a member of the executive management team at BAE Systems and before that, he was an executive at SpecTal, LLC. Mr. Schmale spent 14 years with the U.S. Government serving in various capacities and assignments in direct support of the USG mission while living and working in nearly 50 countries. He holds expert level professional certifications in information security (CISSP), biometrics, information technology, and project management (PMP). In addition, he holds a Master’s Degree in Security Policy/International Affairs.

Kent Barton is Vaxcom’s Chief Financial Officer and one of the company’s ten original employee founders. Mr. Barton is also a member of Vaxcom’s Board of Directors, serving as Treasurer since 1991. He is responsible for the management of all accounting, administrative, and contracting functions including treasury, regulatory and independent audit, pension, procurement, and risk. Prior to Vaxcom, Mr. Barton worked in financial management positions in the government contracting community for Mitre Corporation, CSC, and Contel Page. He holds a Bachelor Degree in both Business Administration and Accounting, as well as a certificate in Procurement and Contracts Management from the University of Virginia.

Suzan Alves is the Vaxcom Human Resources Manager and Facility Security Officer, Ms. Suzan Alves is responsible for maintaining security regulations, creating revolutionary employment opportunities, enhancing benefits, and cultivating employee relations which move the business forward. Mrs. Alves is focused on maintaining a family oriented corporate culture and doing whatever it takes to keep employees energized to work for Vaxcom. Prior to joining Vaxcom, Ms. Alves worked for a government contracting company from the time it had one employee to the time it had fifty. Ms. Alves helped build this company and successfully led Human Resources, Security, Corporate Management, and Quality Assurance with ISO 9001 Compliance. Aside from Ms. Alves’ expertise in Human Resources and Security, she also has experience with contract management, proposal development, quality assurance, and accounting. Ms. Alves is a member of SHRM, has a degree in Business Management, and holds various DoD Security certificates.
